I began my woodworking career in 1979 as an apprentice in a shop which specialized in custom solid-wood office furniture. In 1981 I started Barrett Woodworking, producing a line of Shaker-style dining tables which were sold through stores and decorators. The company grew to include several employees and I was able to take on many interesting projects, both large and small. Jobs included retail store fixtures, office furniture and conference tables, residential cabinetry and custom millwork.
Since 2007 I have been working as a one-man shop, taking on smaller and more labor intensive projects. It is a great pleasure to work with clients to discover just the right design and materials and then to create a unique piece which is functional, visually pleasing and long lasting.
